A Testimony

What is a testimony? The word has several meanings. For the Christian, it is telling an audience (group of people) about how he or she became a Christian.

Several examples of testimonies are below. The first ones are videos, while the last one, The Light of Life, is the words spoken by a student at their baptism. Just before that is Sophie's testimony. The others are audio files that you can listen to or download.

Remember, though - every Christian's testimony is different!

Sophie's Testimony

Hello, everybody.

I have attended church since I was 4 years old. At that time when I went to church, it was just sunday duty. And then I came here.

I went to W.I.C. Jesus made me meet Tina and I lived with Tina who I always respected. I joined the worship group. I met the coworkers in W.I.C and I'm getting to know them. They are really lovely people. They show me what attitude to have for, how to express love for. One of the co-workers is Kristina. I saw Kristina's attitude to God, her two boys and her husband. It was a motivation for me and I thought deeply about why they aredoing like this, what is my life's purpose and how to live. It was the first time for me and I wanted to know about Jesus so I started reading the Bible by myself and I want to live like Jesus. And I know that relationship is really important with another person. But I haven't found out my purpose yet, but now I'm finding it out. I think I've been really changed. Now Jesus is the centre of my heart, and I want to live like Jesus.

Actually it is amazing.

Thank you for everything, all of the coworkers and students. I hope a lot of students will believe in Jesus and become real Christians. Above all, thank you Jesus. thank you for meeting and coming into my heart and life.

The Light of Life

It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light.

---- John 11:10

Since my late childhood, I have been asking what the true meaning of life is. I worked hard and competed for every first prize but I was never content with what I gained. I spent time on material enjoyment but I always felt that something was missing. I began to search without knowing exactly what I was looking for. Under the surface of happiness, there was depression, since my heart was filled with darkness.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

---- John 8:12

Two months after coming to England for study, I happened to be in a Chinese church for the Christmas celebration. I was amazed and deeply touched when everyone present, whether old or young, rich or poor, known or unknown, raised his or her voice to worship God. From that moment on, I started to know the powerful and gracious One. There are peace and blessings in His hands, whenever I feel lost or doubtful. Little by little, I have realised my sinfulness and humbleness, when looking up into Jesus, who died on the cross to save His beloved people.

You are the light of the world. … In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

---- Matthew 5:14, 16

From the very beginning of my journey towards God, I have met many nice and friendly Christians. Without their constant support and encouragement, I couldn’t have found the right direction. Now I know for sure that loving God is the only answer to the true meaning of life and loving my neighbours is the most important task I shall do in this earth. Knowing I cannot be perfect no matter how hard I try, I do wish that one day God’s light would shine through me just like through those nice and friendly Christians, upon His people who suffer the same confusion about life as I did in the past.
