Becoming A Christian
Here are the steps to take to become a Christian. Any of the co-workers will be glad to help if you have any questions or you would like to discuss anything.
Realize that God loves you and has a plan for your life.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not die but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Understand and accept that you are a sinner (someone who sins - click for a definition) and that your sins separate you from God. (There is nothing we can do to save ourselves – our good works are not, and never can be, enough.)
“Everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence.” Romans 3:23
Believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to pay for your sin (He was punished instead of us) so that you can know God personally.
“This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means (way) by which we are forgiven.” 1 John 4:10
Commit (give) your life to Jesus Christ, putting your faith in Him as your Saviour and seeking to follow Him as your Lord.
“If you confess (tell people) that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Christ’s invitation:
“Listen, I stand at the door (of your life) and knock; if any one hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them.” Revelation 3:20
You can respond (reply) to Him by praying this prayer:
Father God,
I know that I am a sinner and that I need forgiveness. I am sorry, Lord – please forgive me.
I believe that Jesus died for my sins and came alive again so that I can have a relationship with you.
I want to turn away from my sins and invite you into my life as my Lord and Saviour. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8
